Jomo Kenyatta (1891 – 1978) war kenyianischer Staatspräsident von 1964 – 1978, ihm zu Ehren wurde dieser neue Münzsatz kreiert.
Die in einigen Katalogen existierenden Kleinmünzen 5 + 10 Cents sind nach meinen Informationen aufgrund des geringen Realwertes niemals in den Umlauf gekommen.
